We pick you up at 7:30 AM and run east through the argan forest to Taroudant and its 16th-century ramparts, then over the Anti-Atlas on the Tizi Mighert pass, with its ochre canyons and Berber villages, and a roadside lunch, to Foum Zguid on the desert’s edge.

North through the Draa Valley palm oasis and past the Zagora Timbuktu, 52 days signpost to the dunes, for a sunset camel trek to a Berber camp run by people we know — tagine, drums, stars.
