You start by the UNESCO kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and the film studios, climb the Dades hairpins, walk the Todra Gorge where the walls nearly touch, then ride camels into the Merzouga dunes for a camp run by people we know and a full 4×4 desert day of Khamlia music and nomad tents. The road home follows the Draa, the longest river in Morocco, through kasbahs and date groves. Private 4×4, English-speaking Berber driver.

We pick you up at 8:30 AM and head east on the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Skoura oasis and Kasbah Amerdhil, then Kelaa M’Gouna and the Valley of Roses for a rosewater distillery stop, and up the Dades Valley to the dramatic gorge switchbacks, sunset on the cliffs.
Accommodation: hotel or kasbah, Dades Gorge (half board).
We walk the towering Todra Gorge at its narrowest, then cross to Erfoud and Rissani (fossils, Alaouite history, the great souk). Late in the day a sunset camel trek carries you over Erg Chebbi to a desert camp for dinner, drumming, and a sky full of stars.
Accommodation: Berber desert camp, Erg Chebbi (half board).
The sunrise over the dunes, then a full 4×4 circuit: the Gnawa village of Khamlia, the Mifis kohl mines, nomad households, fossil beds, and seasonal flamingos at Dayet Srji (sandboarding if you like). A second, more relaxed night by the dunes.

A spectacular cross-desert transfer west via Alnif, Tazzarine, and Nkob (the village of forty-odd kasbahs) into the Draa Valley. You reach the Tinfou dunes near Zagora by late afternoon for a second camel trek and a night in a quieter, more remote Berber camp, with a stop at the old Timbuktu, 52 days by camel signpost.
Accommodation: Berber desert camp, Tinfou (half board).
A desert sunrise, then north up the Draa with stops at the Tamnougalt Kasbah and palm-grove viewpoints near Agdz, over the Tizi n’Tinififft pass and a finish at the UNESCO Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou before drop-off at your Ouarzazate hotel in the late afternoon.
