This Atlas Mountains Day Trip packs an incredible variety of experiences into just one day:
Departure at 9:00 AM from your Marrakech hotel or riad. We drive south into the green Ourika Valley at the foot of the High Atlas, stopping at an argan cooperative where Berber women show you how the oil is pressed, then at a village house for mint tea on a rooftop with the mountains in front of you.
At Setti Fatma a local guide walks you the 45 minutes to an hour up the river and over the rocks to the first of the seven waterfalls — an easy enough climb for most. Lunch is a tagine at a riverside table with your feet almost in the mountain stream.
On the way back we stop at a viewpoint or two and, if you like, the Anima Garden, the botanical garden the Austrian artist Andre Heller made. Back in Marrakech by about 5:00 PM.
