You cross the Tizi n’Tichka to the kasbahs, sleep in the Dades, walk the Todra Gorge, then give the Merzouga dunes a proper two nights — a sunset camel trek, a camp run by people we know, and a full 4×4 desert day of Khamlia music and nomad tents. The road back follows the Draa, the longest river in Morocco, through a thousand kasbahs and palm groves. Private 4×4, English-speaking Berber driver.

Departure at 8:00 AM. We cross the Atlas on the Tizi n’Tichka, give the UNESCO kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou a proper look with your guide, and reach Ouarzazate for the night.

The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs: the Skoura oasis and the lovely Kasbah Amridil, the Valley of Roses (and a rose-water distillery if it is the season), into the dramatic Dades Gorge and its winding road.

The Dades hairpins in the morning, the Todra Gorge for a walk, then via Erfoud to Merzouga and a sunset camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Sunrise over the dunes, then a visit with a nomad household to hear how they live, the souk at Rissani, and the quiet southern road via N’kob, the village of 45 kasbahs, under the Saghro mountains.

Down the Draa Valley, one of the most beautiful palm rivers in Morocco, with a stop at the old Tamnougalt Kasbah near Agdz, over the Tizi n’Tinifift pass and back to Ouarzazate.

North over the Tizi n’Tichka with stops at viewpoints and argan cooperatives, back to your Marrakech hotel or riad by about 3:00 PM.
