Our 4 day Ouarzazate desert tour is a private round-trip from Ouarzazate to the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga and back, with a night in the Dades Valley and a night at a Berber desert camp.
You begin near the UNESCO kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and the Atlas Film Studios, then take the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley and its hairpin bends. The next day walks the cool floor of the Todra Gorge before a sunset camel trek into the Merzouga dunes and a camp run by people we know — tagine, drums, and a Sahara sunrise. We pick you up at 8:30 AM and head east on the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Skoura oasis and the much-photographed earthen Kasbah Amerdhil, then Kelaa M’Gouna and the Valley of Roses, where the Damask roses are picked each spring for rosewater — we stop at a distillery — and up into the Dades Gorge with its switchbacks and monkey-finger rocks, sunset on the cliffs.

We walk the Todra Gorge at its narrowest, where 300-metre walls close to ten metres apart, then cross to Erfoud and Rissani (fossils, Alaouite history, the great souk). By late afternoon the wall of Erg Chebbi appears and you ride camels over the dunes to camp — tagine, drums, and some of the clearest stars anywhere.

Up for sunrise over Erg Chebbi, back to Merzouga for breakfast, then a morning 4×4 circuit — the Gnawa village of Khamlia, the old Mifis kohl mines, nomad households, and seasonal flamingos at Dayet Srji. After lunch we drive west via Alnif and Tazzarine toward the Draa, overnighting in a kasbah hotel near Nkob, famous for its skyline of forty-odd kasbahs.

A relaxed last morning down the Draa with photo stops and an artisan workshop, and an optional stop at the UNESCO Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, before drop-off at your Ouarzazate hotel by mid-afternoon.
