At Merzouga a sunset camel trek carries you over the dunes to a camp run by people we know, and you wake for the Sahara sunrise before the drive back through the gorges. We pick you up at 8:30 AM from your Ouarzazate hotel or riad and drive south over the Tizi n’Tinififft pass to Agdz, the gate to the Draa Valley, with a stop at the half-inhabited 16th-century Tamnougalt Kasbah. Down the longest palm oasis in the world to Zagora — the photo at the old Timbuktu, 52 days by camel signpost — and on to the Tinfou dunes for a sunset camel trek to a Berber camp run by people we know: tagine, drums, stars.
Accommodation: Berber desert camp, Tinfou (half board).
Up for the sunrise over the dunes, camels back to Tinfou, then mint tea with a nomad household, and back north up the Draa with stops at quieter kasbahs and palm groves to a traditional kasbah hotel — pool, sunset, dinner.

A morning north toward Ouarzazate, with an optional hour at the UNESCO Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. We drop you at your Ouarzazate hotel by about 4:00 PM.
