What data we collect

Information you give us

When you send an enquiry or booking request through a form on this website, or contact us by email or WhatsApp, we collect the information you provide: your name, email address, phone number, country of residence, travel dates, number of travellers, and anything you include in your message — for example dietary requirements, accessibility needs or accommodation preferences.

Information collected automatically

Our web host keeps standard server logs, which record your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the date and time of the visit. We use these only for security, diagnostics and preventing abuse.

Why we use your data

  • To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote — because you asked us to, as steps taken before entering a contract.
  • To organise and deliver your tour (transport, guides, accommodation, desert camps) — to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep booking and accounting records — to meet our legal obligations.
  • To keep the website secure — for our legitimate interest in preventing fraud and abuse.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making.

Who we share it with

To run your trip we pass on only the details each supplier needs: your drivers and guides, riads and hotels, desert camps, and local activity providers. We also rely on our web host and email provider, who process data on our behalf. We never share your data with third parties for their own marketing.

Cookies and third-party content

This website does not run advertising cookies or analytics tracking cookies.

  • Our multilingual plugin (WPML) may store a cookie remembering the language you chose.
  • Tour pages embed Google Maps. When a map loads, Google may receive your IP address and set its own cookies.
  • The site loads Google Fonts, which may expose your IP address to Google.

These providers act under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

International transfers

We are based in Morocco. If you contact us from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your personal data is transferred to and processed in Morocco, which is outside the EEA/UK and is not covered by an EU adequacy decision. Where the transfer is necessary to arrange or carry out the tour you asked for, we rely on Article 49(1)(b) of the GDPR (transfer necessary for the performance of a contract with you). We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data in transit and at rest.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Booking and trip records: up to 6 years, for accounting and liability purposes.
  • Server logs: normally up to 12 months.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access your data, correct it, ask us to delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@moroccodesertdiscovery.com. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority — for example the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali in Italy, or the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos in Spain.

Security

The website is served over HTTPS. Access to enquiry and booking information is limited to the members of our team who need it to arrange your trip.

Children

Our tours are booked by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16, other than the details a parent or guardian gives us as part of a family booking.

Comments

If you leave a comment on this site, we store the comment itself together with your name, email address and IP address, which helps us detect spam.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
