Pickup at 9:00 AM from your Errachidia hotel or airport. South through the Ziz Gorge and the palm-filled Ziz Oasis, with a stop at the valley overlook, a fossil workshop in Erfoud, and the souk at Rissani. You reach Merzouga for a sunset camel trek over the Erg Chebbi dunes to a Berber camp run by people we know — tagine, drums, stars.

The sunrise, camels back for breakfast, then a 4×4 circuit — Khamlia, nomad households, fossil beds — and west to the Todra Gorge for a riverbed walk under its 300-metre walls, on to the Dades Valley for sunset.

The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs west via the Valley of Roses and the Skoura oasis to Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Africa, then the UNESCO kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou for a guided walk and the climb to the granary at golden hour.
