Tour Details of 5-Day Casablanca to Merzouga Desert Tour

Our private 5 Day Casablanca To Merzouga Desert Tour offers an immersive Moroccan experience. Most travelers land in Casablanca, so this is where many of our trips begin. Our 5 day Casablanca to Merzouga desert tour is a private journey from Casablanca through the imperial cities to the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga and on to Marrakech, with a night at a Berber camp in the sand.

You start beneath the minaret of the Hassan II Mosque, where the sea comes right up to the prayer hall, then head inland to Fes for a guided medina day. The road south crosses the Middle Atlas cedar forests and the Ziz Valley to Merzouga for a sunset camel trek and a camp run by people we know, then runs the Todra Gorge and the kasbahs over the Atlas to Marrakech. Private 4×4, English-speaking Berber driver.

Day-by-Day 5 Days Casablanca To Merzouga Desert Tour Itinerary

Day 1Casablanca → Hassan II Mosque → Rabat

We pick you up from Casablanca Mohammed V airport or your hotel and start at the Hassan II Mosque, the largest in Africa and one of the few open to non-Muslim visitors — built out over the Atlantic with a 210-metre minaret. North to Rabat for the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the blue-and-white Kasbah of the Udayas over the Bou Regreg.

Accommodation: hotel or riad in Rabat (half board).

    Day 2Rabat → Meknes → Volubilis → Fes

East to Meknes, an imperial city, for the Bab Mansour gate and the great granaries, and the Roman ruins of Volubilis nearby — columns, arch, and 3rd-century mosaics. Into Fes in the afternoon to settle into a medina riad.

Accommodation: traditional riad in Fes (half board).

    Day 3Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Midelt

A guided morning in Fes el-Bali — the Chouara tanneries, the Bou Inania madrasa, the Al-Qarawiyyin, and the spice and textile souks — then south through the Middle Atlas, with Ifrane, the Little-Switzerland town, and the Azrou cedar forest and its macaques, to the mountain town of Midelt.

Accommodation: hotel in Midelt (half board).

Day 4Midelt → Ziz Valley → Erfoud → Merzouga (sunset camel trek)

South into the red-rock Ziz Valley and its millions of palms, through Errachidia and Erfoud, the fossil town, to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes. A sunset camel trek into the sand to a Berber camp run by people we know — en-suite tents, a fire, tagine, drumming, and a sky full of stars.

Accommodation: desert camp at Erg Chebbi (half board).

    Day 5Sahara sunrise → Rissani → Casablanca

Up before dawn for the sunrise, camels back, the souk at Rissani, then the long drive north via Errachidia and the Ziz Valley back to Casablanca by about 8:00 PM, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport (or a transfer onward).

When you are ready, send us a message — we will plan it around you.
