We pick you up at the Casablanca airport or your hotel and head to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, built over the Atlantic with intricate hand-carved zellige tiles and a retractable roof. We then drive to Rabat, Morocco’s coastal capital. Here we visit the historic Hassan Tower, the elegant Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and walk the white-and-blue alleys of the Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the Bouregreg river.

We travel north from Rabat, winding through the rolling green hills and rugged peaks of the Rif Mountains. By afternoon, we arrive in the famous blue city of Chefchaouen. You will have a free afternoon to wander its beautiful blue-washed medina, explore the historic Kasbah museum, and relax with a mint tea in Plaza Uta el-Hammam.

We head south to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Volubilis to explore the extensive 2,000-year-old Roman ruins and floor mosaics. We then continue to the imperial city of Meknes to view the grand Bab Mansour gate and the giant royal granaries built by Sultan Moulay Ismail. We reach the ancient city of Fes by late afternoon.

A whole day in Fes el-Bali, the world’s largest car-free medieval medina. Our local guide will walk you through the labyrinth of souks, the famous Chouara tanneries, the 14th-century Bou Inania madrasa, and the Al-Qarawiyyin mosque and university. At sunset, we visit the Merenid Tombs for a panoramic view of the medina, with time for an optional traditional hammam.

We travel south across the Middle Atlas mountains, passing the Alpine-style town of Ifrane and stopping in the Azrou cedar forest to spot the Barbary macaques. We drive through the red-cliffed gorges of the Ziz Valley, and reach Merzouga by late afternoon. Here you mount camels for a sunset trek into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, arriving at our luxury desert camp for dinner and drumming around a campfire.

Watch the sun rise over the dunes before returning to Merzouga by camel or 4×4. We stop in Rissani, the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty, to see its traditional souk, then drive to the Tinghir Oasis to walk under the 300-metre cliffs of the Todra Gorge. We finish the day in the scenic Dades Valley to see its red oases and winding hairpin roads.

We drive west along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Rose Valley and Skoura palm grove to Ouarzazate, where you can opt to visit the Atlas Film Studios. We continue to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, walking through the ancient mud-brick lanes of the fortified village featured in Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

We climb over the High Atlas mountains on the winding Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m), stopping at panoramic viewpoints and a traditional cooperative where women produce argan oil. We descend into the plains and reach Marrakech by early afternoon, leaving you free to explore the main square and souks.
